Ontario Heat Pump Rebates - What You Need to Know

Heat pumps can be an effective way of heating and cooling homes. Heat pumps can move heat from a colder space to a warmer one. A heat pump can also reverse the process and move heat from a warmer space to a colder one. These energy-efficient systems can help reduce energy bills. Did you know that installing a heat pump can also earn you money? That’s right! You can get money back from the government when you install energy-efficient heating equipment like heat pumps. This blog will tell you all about the Canada Greener Homes grant, what is heat pumps, how it works and more.

Canada Greener Homes Grant: Heat Pumps

Homeowners in Canada can apply for up to $5,000 in rebates for energy-efficient home retrofits, including heat pumps, under the Canada Greener Homes Grant initiative. The grant program encourages homeowners to upgrade their homes with energy-efficient retrofits, such as insulation and solar panels, that can reduce emissions and save money. An additional 39,000 Canadian homes have already applied for the grant since it launched in January of 2018. Notably, the grant has helped create new jobs across the country for energy advisors and grow domestic green supply chains.

If you're eligible, your home can be evaluated by an energy advisor for eligible retrofit projects. Some of these projects include insulation upgrades, water heating upgrades, and solar panel retrofit projects. You can also visit Hargrave Heating & Air Conditioning online to find out more about eligibility and how to apply for the grant.

What are heat pumps?

Heat pumps are two-in-one HVAC systems that can heat and cool a home. They use electricity to transfer heat from one place to another, depending on the season. Heat pumps are more energy efficient than gas furnaces or electric baseboard heaters, potentially saving on energy costs. They can also reduce carbon emissions, making them an environmentally friendly option for homes. Heat pumps can be a cost-effective way to heat and cool homes during cold seasons, when traditional heating systems may be inefficient. Overall, heat pumps are an effective and environmentally-friendly way to heat and cool homes.

Why install a heat pump?

Heat pumps can save energy costs and reduce carbon emissions. They are 2-in-1 HVAC systems that can heat and cool your home. Heat pumps use far less electricity than traditional electric baseboard or forced air systems, making them a cost-effective way to heat your home. Heat pumps can also qualify for grants, provided eligibility requirements are met.

Although heat pumps can be expensive upfront investment, they can ultimately save you money in the long run. They are energy-efficient and cost-effective ways to heat your home. So, what is the Greener Homes Grant?

The Greener Homes Grant is a government initiative to help eligible homeowners install heat pump systems in their homes. The grant covers the cost of insulation and air-sealing, which can save money on energy costs and improve home comfort. Through the grant, homeowners can enjoy savings of up to $5,600 on retrofitting their homes with heat pumps.

To qualify for the grant, a homeowner must have a home with at least two indoor climate units (IGUs) installed. The grant covers the cost of insulation, air-sealing, and heating system evaluation and retrofit costs.

The grant also provides funding for contractors to consult with homeowners about the best heating system for their homes. These contractors can provide guidance on the types of heat pump systems that are available, as well as how to select and install them.

How does the Canada Greener Homes Grant work?

The Canada Greener Homes Grant initiative provides energy-efficient home retrofit grants and rebate programs to homeowners interested in installing heat pumps. The grant can help reduce energy waste, lower energy bills, and help homeowners make their homes more energy-efficient.

These grants can provide up to $5,000 for new or replacement heat pumps. These can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and electricity use by heating or cooling homes using renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power.

Homeowners can access up to $6,600 for an EnerGuide home energy evaluation before and after the retrofit work is complete. These evaluations can help homeowners identify opportunities to make their homes more energy-efficient and can help them make informed decisions about the best way to green their homes.
